Photoshoot in Agia Efimia

Last summer we had a great vacation once again on Kefalonia island, in Greece. It is definitely one of those places in the world where we always wish to come back. I know lots of beautiful spots there and I couldn’t resist to take a small photo session on the rocky coast of Agia Efimia. Luckily Irina was eager to have some beautiful portraits during her vacation as well and we did it!

Prior to the shooting we discussed the wardrobe in such an easy way. I made a fashion look board for her with different possible styles, which ended up with two looks. The first one – summer casual, but the second one – lovely formal. I always appreciate collaboration between me as a photographer and my clients. I don’t want to insist on my own vision, but I find it helpful to give them an input on this topic.

Irina is a wonderful person and extremely successful in her career as a Zumba coach. She was interviewed last year about her work and future plans. She is keen on traveling and we chatted a bit about it.

Q: What are your feelings on having a photo session during vacation?
A: This was an unforgettable experience for me. Being a dancer almost a half of my life I had several professional photo sessions but I never felt so relaxed as on Kefalonia. During this photo session I had an opportunity to express my feelings while Janita took care of every single detail and helped me with posing. The beauty of the island made this photo session magical.

Q: Is it your first time to Greece?
A: First time I travelled to Rhodes and fall in love with Greece forever. Without any doubt I came back when I was offered a job as a Zumba Fitness instructor in one of the best hotels in Rhodes – Elysium Resort&Spa. Later I discovered Athens twice and had a wonderful week on Santorini, where my best friend got married.

Q: What are the most impressive sights of Kefalonia?
A: The island is very charming. My list is quite big, but I would definitely include Myrthos beach, Antisamos beach, Fiskardo village, Koroni beach, Dafnoudi beach, Assos village, Melissani cave, Drogarati cave and the Ainos National Park.

Q: Could you give any suggestion for those who plan to visit Kefalonia?
A: My traveling tips for visiting Kefalonia:

  • rent a car or even motorcycle to explore the island, because public transport connects only main cities;
  • snorkelling and swimming in Kefalonia is very exciting – buy a mask and explore the underwater world;
  • try national food at the local tavernas – this is the best way to explore Greece;
  • plan a one day trip to Ithaca – the home island of Odysseus, which is just 30 minutes away from Kefalonia by ferry;
  • watching a sunset at Myrthos beach is a must see!
  • and don’t forget to be spontaneous. Always remember that you can’t plan everything. The best things happen accidentally. Kefalonia is full of surprises if you deviate from touristic paths.

Q: Which destinations are on your bucket list?
A: I would love to come back to Greece next year.

Portugal, Croatia and Italy – these three European countries I wish to visit in my near future. Most of my trips are career-related – I attend fitness and dance events, but I always try to find some time to explore new cities while traveling. I am sure that every journey (even a small one) could turn into the unforgettable.

It was an inspirational time in Greece. Please feel free to recommend this article as well as comment, share and like :)
